The 20th Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival wrapped up Sunday evening after bringing more than 30,000 people to Town Green Park and the surrounding Waterway area. That's about 15 percent more than last year's attendance. The two-day juried art show had 230 artists from around the country.

Organizers credited the turnout to more programming, good weather, and word of mouth that's now pulling in visitors from outside the Houston area. This year added live music on three stages, hands-on art projects for kids, and a craft beer garden with local breweries.

Area hotels were nearly full all weekend. Waterway restaurants posted some of their highest single-day sales of the year, and a few stayed open later than usual to handle the crowds.

The Woodlands Arts Council, which puts on the festival, said proceeds will go toward arts education in Montgomery County schools, including classroom grants and artist-in-residence programs at five Conroe ISD campuses.
